Print Competition Rules

SECTION D. YEAR END PRINT COMPETITION RULES:

  1. Up to six prints that have received 70 or above in PPSCV competition during the current year may be entered.
  2. For prints to be eligible in year end competition, the maker must have attended at least five meetings during the year.
  3. Three to five outside judges will be announced prior to the competition who will judge all categories.
  4. Judges shall be invited to the Annual Banquet as guests of PPSCV.
  5. Awards will be given for first, second, and third places in Portrait, Social Events, Commercial, and Unclassified categories.
  6. Each Plaque will state clearly what the award is for, e.g., First Place Portrait Print.
  7. All plaques will have the year, PPSCV, makers name, place and category awarded. See "6" for example.
  8. One award will be given to the print of the year. The plaque will state: PPSCV, the year, makers name and Print of the Year.
  9. In using the award for any publicity or advertisement, it must state clearly what the award was given for. It will be at the discretion of the Board of Directors to determine if the publicity or advertisement is stated properly.
  10. Only prints mounted on 16x20 mount boards will be accepted for year end competition. Photographs larger than 16x20 may be accepted, at the discretion of the print competition chairman, provided they are securely packaged. The maker will have to supply the information from the back of the original print if the print entered is not the original.
  11. An award will be given for Photographer of the Year. It will be awarded to the photographer who has the highest total of points, for the calendar year, calculated as follows:
    1. Monthly print competition: Points will be awarded for each photographer's ten highest scoring prints.
      • 1.5 points for each print scoring 85 - 100
      • 1.0 point for each print scoring 80 - 84
      • 0.5 points for each print scoring 76-79
      • 0.5 points for the Cover Print
    2. Year-end print awards:
      • 3.0 points for 1st place
      • 2.5 points for 2nd place
      • 2.0 points for 3rd place
      • 4.0 points for Print of the Year
  12. A minimum of 5 prints representing 3 different makers is required in each category before any awards will be given in that category.
